"Look Inside” and experience a scene from Lexington’s distillery history. The Jas E. Pepper Diorama invites the viewer to explore the most interesting, lesser known space of the bourbon barrel: the inside. By viewing the interior through the bunghole of the barrel, you will be transported to Manchester Street at the beginning of the 20thcentury. Old and new coalesce inside of the barrel as a historic scene featuring the Pepper and Henry Clay Distilleries is illuminated by electricity that is converted from solar energy.

Artists Jessica Slade and Casey Opstad recently began collaborating on public art projects. The Bourbon Barrel Project on Town Branch presented a unique opportunity to change the viewer’s experience from a passive role to an active participant in this public art project.
