A fascination with pattern, color, form and texture have been lifelong inspirations for the paintings and mixed media collages of artist Linda Horvay.  Four years in Germany introduced her to peasant folk art patterns, including "Bauernmalerei," a style for decorating rustic wooden furniture.  This seemed a logical and fun choice for a bourbon barrel.  Also, many of Horvay's paintings, including figurative works, involve patterns.  A painter since the early 1980's, Horvay focuses on scenes of daily life, inspired by everyday observations, giving form to feelings.  She has participated in many types of shows--solo, juried, group, invitationals and art fairs--and has received grants from The Kentucky Foundation for Women and The Lexington Arts & Cultural Council.  In 2006 she became interested in making small collages with origami and other papers and has created over 1,100 designs for note cards which are carried at the Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft (Louisville),  the Kentucky Artisan Center (Berea) and, in Lexington, at Good Foods Market & Cafe, the Morris Book Shop, and Sahara Mediterranean Cuisine.  Her paintings are in private and corporate collections including Clay-Ingels, UK Hospital, and Central Bank.
